DENVER - December 10, 2002 - Ocean Oasis, a sensational large format film about the natural wonders of Baja, California begins showing daily at The Wildlife Experience Museum on Saturday, December 14, 2002. This fascinating journey takes viewers into the bountiful seas and pristine deserts of two remarkably different, but inextricably linked worlds-Mexico's Sea of Cortes and the Baja California desert.

As viewers watch this film, they will encounter the wondrous and enchanting life of the Ocean Oasis- a sea within a desert- within an ocean. From the snow-capped peaks of the Sierra San Pedro Matir to the immaculate desert shores of the Baja California peninsula this region's biodiversity ranges from alpine to tropical life.

The 38-minute film takes visitors on a visual adventure up and down the oceanic food chain, "from schools of reef-born plankton to vast silver ribbons of frigate mackerel to pods of humpback whales, and manta rays the size of cars." As the film leaves the underwater wonders, it turns focus to the dessert land of the Baja. Viewers are educated on why this watery paradise washes up on a dessert, and they see much of the life that exists on land, from rattlesnakes to kangaroo rats.

By combining this fascinating footage with 8/70mm film, a powerful movie experience has been created. The 8/70mm film is about 4 times larger than standard 35mm prints and creates a visual adventure for all who will see this movie. By viewing Ocean Oasis on this large format film, the experience will be, "the closest people will get to scuba diving without getting wet."

Along with this visual adventure, visitors will also enjoy the sensation of extreme sound while viewing Ocean Oasis at the iWERKS Theater. The sound system in the new iWERKS Extreme Screen Theater utilizes a complex Dolby digital DTS surround sound system with approximately 15,000 watts of power. The theater screen is perforated with thousands of tiny holes that allow Ocean Oasis's score to fill the theater.

Ocean Oasis will show daily at The Wildlife Experience Museum. For show times and admission costs, please call (720) 488-3300 or visit The Wildlife Experience website at www.thewildlifeexperience.org.

One of the primary goals of The Wildlife Experience Museum is to instill a love and respect of all things wild through education and example, and inspire those who visit the museum and it's giant screen theater to become involved in conservation efforts. The Wildlife Experience is a new art and natural history museum just south of Denver. Photos available upon request.
