The Animal Art of Guy Coheleach
Bounds into the Wildlife Experience

DENVER- January 24, 2003 - One of the world's most renowned wildlife artists, Guy Coheleach, brings his exhibit to The Wildlife Experience Museum. The museum is proud to host "The Animal Art of Guy Coheleach," from February 8 to May 26.

Coheleach is known for his ability to capture the distinctive motion and character of animals in the wild. This results from first-hand observation. The youngest member ever admitted to the Adventurer’s Club of New York and a fellow of the prestigious Explorer’s Club, he has traveled the globe in search of animal subjects. " This is exactly that kind of knowledge that has made him one of the best wild animal painters in the world, admired by both scientists and art critics," Pat Robertson said in Sporting Classics.

A traveling exhibit organized by the artist himself, "The Animal Art of Guy Coheleach", features more than 40 major paintings and additional works. The museum’s gift shop will carry the artist’s book, Guy Coheleach's Animal Art.

Recipient of the Society of Animal Artists’ Award of Excellence an unprecedented eight times, Guy Coheleach is one of America’s most celebrated wildlife painters. His work has been exhibited in more than a hundred one-man shows and in the National Collection of Fine Art, the White House, the Corcoran Gallery, and the Royal Ontario Museum. He was the first Western artist to exhibit in postwar Peking. The many accolades bestowed upon him include the celebrated Master Artist Medal from the Leigh Yawkey Woodson Art Museum and an honorary doctorate from William and Mary.

Coheleach’s art is reproduced in three books: The Big Cats: The Paintings of Guy Coheleach (a 1982 Book of the Month Club selection); Coheleach: Masters of the Wild, and Guy Coheleach's Animal Art. His work has also been featured in Reader's Digest, Saturday Evening Post, National Wildlife and Audubon magazines, as well as in numerous regional art and wildlife magazines. Two films document his interaction with animals as the basis of his art: Guy Coheleach and the Bald Eagle and Quest: An Artist and His Prey.

Coheleach will appear at The Wildlife Experience, February 22, in conjunction with the exhibition. Saturday, Feb. 22, Coheleach will conduct a gallery walk-through from 10 a.m. to 10:30 a.m. in the museum’s main art gallery and then sign books until 12:30 p.m. The walk-through is included in museum admission. The artist will discuss his work and sign books at a Meet and Greet the Artist reception that evening from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. Cold hors d’oeuvres will be served. There is no cost to attend the reception.
