Press Release
For Feather Forecast, Check "Birds in Art"
at the Wildlife Experience Museum
DENVER - May 6, 2003 - Meteorologists may forecast summer hail showers but come June the feather forecast is always beautiful at the Wildlife Experience Museum. The exhibition "Birds in Art" opens on June 7th and remains on view through August 3rd - 8 full weeks of high-flying art that celebrates the worldwide spectrum of the avian kingdom.
Prepare to be dazzled by the range and variety of artworks included in "Birds in Art." From up-close and personal bird portraits to an abstract collage of bird life, there is something to appeal to every taste and interest. The scope and variety of interpretations, methods, and mediums used by the artist offer both an avian adventure and a vibrant smorgasbord of differing artistic styles and processes.
Landscapes abound and are filled with appropriately indigenous species that transport viewers from Wisconsin farm fields to tropical rainforests and from an African river delta to a mountain lake in Bali, leaving no doubt that the best indoor birdwathcing this summer is at the Wildlife Experience Museum's "Birds in Art."
The exhibition comprises 60 original paintings, drawings, mixed media, and sculpture created by artists who hail from Australia, Belgium, Canada, England, Germany, The Netherlands, Spain, Sweden, Taiwan, and the United States.
Carl Brenders, the 2002 Master Wildlife Artist, is represented with a great gray owl that demonstrates not only his affinity for birds but also his hyper realistic painting styles that has catapulted him into the forefront of art reflecting nature's perfection. Brender's is also an artist who is represented in the Wildlife Experience's permanent collection.
"Birds in Art" has been organized by Leigh Yawkey Woodson Art Museum, Wausau, Wisconsin. The Wildlife Experience will pair education with this exhibit by offering visitors "scavenger hunts" and other hands-on activities. A 130 page-full color catalogue documenting every work will be available in the museum's gift shop as well.
