Meet World-Renowned Artist Simon Combes
at The Wildlife Experience
DENVER-September 23, 2003-The Wildlife Experience announces a visit by a world-renowned wildlife artist, Simon Combes. Mr. Combes will be visiting The Wildlife Experience on September 27, 2003 to present a slide lecture and will also be available to sign prints.
Simon Combes was born in Shaftesbury, England in 1940, but moved to Kenya at the age of six with his family, and has lived in Kenya nearly ever since. The focus of his art has primarily been the wildlife that populates Kenya, as well as depicting the beautiful scenery and landscape of the country in larger mural paintings.
Over the span of his career, Simon Combes has achieved worldwide success and has received numerous prestigious awards, including the Society of Animal Artists' Award of Excellence. As well, he was selected as "Artist of the Year" for the 1994 Pacific Rim Wildlife Art Show. Simon Combes uses his worldwide success and talent to raise wildlife conservation awareness, and has served on several conservation councils.
Combes' panoramic painting, The Wildebeest Migration, is the basis for the 85-foot mural dominating the Vanishing Africa exhibit at The Wildlife Experience. This is a wonderful opportunity to meet an internationally acclaimed wildlife artist, as he talks about his home near Lake Nakuru National Park in Kenya and his work to assist Kenya Wildlife Service as Project Director Kenya for the Rhino Rescue Trust. Signed prints of Combes' painting, The Biggest Leopard, will also be available for sale.
Simon Combes will give a Gallery Talk at 11 a.m. in the Vanishing Africa exhibit, and will then present a slide lecture at 1 p.m. in the Community Gallery. Immediately following the slide lecture, Mr. Combes will be available to sign prints.
