Internationally Acclaimed Sculptor Delivers Two New
Bronze Sculptures to The Wildlife Experience

DENVER — March 9, 2004 — Two new bronze sculptures by acclaimed sculptor Kent Ullberg went on permanent display at The Wildlife Experience on Monday, March 8.

Ullberg's 5-foot tall manatee now stands outside the Children's Gallery, and his sea otter, measuring 2 feet by 3 1/2 feet, graces the museum's main hallway. These two pieces join several other Ullberg pieces already showcased at the natural history and wildlife art center. Educational materials accompanying these new sculptures augment the interactivity of The Wildlife Experience.

An avid wildlife advocate, Ullberg uses his talent to encourage the necessity and importance of wildlife conservation. “Manatees are threatened throughout their range,” he says of the Children's Gallery sculpture, “and without efforts could become extinct.”

A sculptor for more than 30 years, Ullberg has long been inspired by wildlife and conservation issues. His more than 50 public sculptures can be found throughout the world, from a monumental 20-foot work produced for the Swedish government in Stockholm to his sculpture of cranes in Denver's Cherry Creek. In addition to being an internationally recognized artist, Ullberg has been a curator at the Denver Museum of Nature and Science. His home and studio are in Loveland, Colo.

The Wildlife Experience is proud to showcase Ullberg's sculptures to promote conservation efforts and enhance visitors' adventures at the museum.
