Teacher Enhancement Credit Programs Offered by
Kindred Spirits Tour & Travel and The Wildlife Experience
DENVER — March 11, 2004 — The Wildlife Experience is working with Kindred Spirits Tour and Travel to promote their Education Adventure Programs. This program focuses on fostering inspiring experiences, cultural understanding and awareness of global issues involving the natural world and conservation. The Wildlife Experience is excited to have this opportunity to promote wildlife conservation with Kindred Spirits.
Currently, Kindred Spirits Tour and Travel is offering three adventures through the Colorado School of Mines. Each program is valid for two or three semester credit hours. The first program is “Galapagos Enchanted Isles and the Darwin Research Institute,” which begins and ends in Quito, Ecuador from June 4 through June 14, 2004. This adventure provides participants with a chance to visit the various islands to hike and to enjoy snorkeling excursions while learning about habitats and conservation efforts in the Galapagos.
In the second adventure, entitled “Magical Andean Adventure,” where participants will visit Machu Picchu, Manu National Park and the Matsiguenka Natives Project: Avirery Center for Matsiguenka Traditional Medicine. This program will last three weeks, beginning on July 1 and ending on July 22, 2004. “Magical Andean Adventure” begins and ends in Cusco, Peru, and takes visitors on a fantastic journey through the Andes and a pristine Amazon Rain Forest while learning about ancient cultures and the habitats native to each area. This adventure also includes a service program to assist the indigenous people of Peru in the construction of a traditional medicine clinic. This clinic will help preserve their native medicinal and healing practices of utilizing natural resources.
The last travel adventure Kindred Spirits is offering is the “Mesa Verde Country Native American Culture Program,” which runs May 28 through June 4, 2004. Starting in Cortez, Colorado, this adventure takes participants off the beaten path through Mesa Verde National Park, Ute Mountain Tribal Park, Crow Canyon and Canyon of the Ancients. Participants will learn about the history of the area, various Native American cultures, and wildlife and plant conservation programs.
