Start Seeing Things in the Dark at The Wildlife Experience

DENVER – June 8, 2004 – Who's afraid of the dark and bumps in the night? You won't be after you visit the upcoming exhibit, In The Dark , at The Wildlife Experience.

In The Dark is a traveling exhibit created by the Cincinnati Museum Center that transports visitors to the captivating and often unknown regions and elements of some of the world's darkest environments. The exhibit is comprised of five walk-through areas, complete with interactive games and dioramas, which place visitors in environments where plants and animals have survived and adapted to complete darkness. In The Dark is a unique, hands-on exhibit that encourages visitors to experience what life is like for animals that rely on senses other than sight to navigate their environments.

Visitors will learn how a snake hunts for prey in the nighttime desert and unveils complex underground ecosystems in the average backyard, revealing moles, worms, bumblebees and slugs that exist in near-dark conditions. In The Dark also illustrates how underground caves are formed and the balance of organisms that thrive in these zero-light caverns. The “Darkness of the Deep Sea” area transports visitors to the darkest depths of the oceans and displays different areas of the deep sea and the organisms that have adapted to life without light. In The Dark also examines how humans have existed and adapted to darkness in a re-creation of an urban duplex, how different cultures interpret night and darkness and the technological adaptations humans have created to help them “see” in the dark.

In The Dark is a wonderful learning experience and way to discover the diversity of the natural world. The Wildlife Experience invites you to immerse yourself In The Dark.
