Internationally Acclaimed Sculptor's Retrospective Exhibit on Display
at The Wildlife Experience

DENVER – September 23, 2004 - The Wildlife Experience, located south of DTC, proudly displays the nationally touring exhibit, Kent Ullberg: A Retrospective . Kent Ullberg is an internationally renowned sculptor, but much of his story and his sculptures have roots in Colorado.

The Wildlife Experience, the first stop for Kent Ullberg: A Retrospective after its premiere at The Joslyn Art Museum in Omaha, Nebraska, is home to several of Ullberg's sculptures. A massive bronze eagle sculpture welcomes guests onto the museum grounds from the parking lot; a sculpture of a ram keeps watch over the fountain in the courtyard and a cougar watches visitors from the main staircase as they enter the main atrium. Several other Ullberg sculptures make their home at The Wildlife Experience, and on October 2 nd , approximately 50 of the artist's sculptures will take up temporary residence in the fine art museum when Kent Ullberg: A Retrospective opens.

A sculptor for over thirty years, Kent Ullberg, has long been inspired by wildlife and conservation issues. He has sculpted more than 50 public monuments that can be found throughout the world. These include a 20-foot sculpture done for the Swedish Government located in Stockholm and a sculpture of cranes, entitled Rites of Spring . A replica of this sculpture resides in Cherry Creek mall, and will be on display at The Wildlife Experience during the show.

As well as being an internationally recognized artist, Ullberg was hired as the curator of the African Hall at the Denver Museum of Nature and Science (formerly The Denver Museum of Natural History) in 1974. While working as curator, he made connections with the Loveland-based Art Casting of Colorado, where he was able to make several of his now famous sculptures. Ullberg now has a studio in Loveland where he completes most of his work.

The Wildlife Experience will host an artist's reception and exhibit preview on Friday, October 1 st from 5:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. where guests can enjoy cocktails, hors d'oeuvres and remarks by Kent Ullberg. On Saturday, October 2 nd , Kent Ullberg will meet with museum visitors and provide a slide show presentation. Kent Ullberg: A Retrospective will be on display at The Wildlife Experience from October 2, 2004 through January 2, 2005.
