Visit The World Of Chimpanzees Firsthand at The Wildlife Experience

DENVER - June 8, 2006 - Most can only dream to travel through jungles to get an up close view of its habitants. However this summer at The Wildlife Experience, one can get a glimpse of daily life of the chimpanzees that call the Gombe Stream area home.

In 1960, researcher Jane Goodall began her study of chimpanzees in the wild, a revolutionary idea at the time. Through her research, understanding of these animals has matured along with awareness of serious problems that exist in the area. In addition to her research, Goodall has passed her passion for these lovable animals on to her husband, photographer Hugo Van Lawick. The Chimpanzees of Gombe Stream exhibit displays photographs taken by Van Lawick of everyday activities the chimpanzees experience.

This exhibit follows Goodall’s interaction with the chimps and documents some of the major themes of her research. Through 30 photo panels one can observe the primates in their natural habitat and discover a part of the world most will never see. This exhibit will accompany another exhibit at The Wildlife Experience, Chimpanzee Challenge, which through an interactive maze will further one’s understanding of chimpanzees.

View the life of chimpanzees through Van Lawick's eyes from June 17 through September 10. For more information on this exhibit and The Wildlife Experience, Call (720) 488-3300or visit thewildlifeexperience.org.
