Take a Journey to the ART of the Rainforest
DENVER - August 4, 2006 - Take a trip through the rainforest as Art of the Rainforest brings the diversity of the world’s jungles to life at The Wildlife Experience.
Some facts are important to know when it comes to the vitality and relevance of the world’s rainforests: Deforestation not only threatens plant and animal life, but it also threatens human life. In the not so distant past, rainforests covered approximately 14% of the earth. Today, they only cover 6%. Many experts estimate that in as few as 40 years rainforests will be erased from the face of our planet. Currently, the rainforests serve as the “lungs” of the planet, as they clean about twenty percent of the air we breathe.
Art of the Rainforest is a fine art exhibit that combines a variety of mediums from an assortment of artists and documents the diversity of life within the world's rainforests. This collection contains a medley of paintings and sculptures of animals and their habitats. However, they are more than just works of art that illuminate a particular animal, reptile or plant. Many of the beautiful pieces of artwork depict how different species relate to each other and have adapted to survive in the jungle. Each piece tells a story of rainforest life, which provides insight into how the dynamics of the rainforest are essential to the overall health of our planet.
Pieces in the exhibit are from ten artists who have produced a body of work of consistent quality over time. Each artist was invited to exhibit several works to demonstrate their versatility and range of artistic treatment. Artworks were chosen for their assorted subject matter and for their creative combinations of elements and principles of composition and design, extraordinary technique and resulting style.
Experience the rainforest yourself from August 19 through November 19 at The Wildlife Experience. For more information on this exhibit and The Wildlife Experience, call (720) 488-3300 or visit thewildlifeexperience.org.
