DENVER - December 19, 2006 - The Wildlife Experience hosts a family celebration on the first Saturday of every month. The museum invites visitors of all ages to experience the wonders of the earth’s wild places and celebrate our world’s diverse cultures and wildlife through an array of fun-filled activities. The next Family Fun Day will be Saturday, January 6, 2007.

Family Fun Day features a variety of educational activities for children of all ages. Activities may include arts and crafts, storytelling, games and a scavenger hunt.

At the January 6 Family Fun Day, join us in welcoming renowned wildlife artist Edward Aldrich for a special drawing lesson in our Vanishing Africa exhibit. Visitors will have the opportunity to sketch with Aldrich and acquire great tips on drawing wildlife. Don't miss some of Aldrich's work, featured in the exhibit Birds in Art, which is currently on display at The Wildlife Experience. Family Fun Day activities are included in the price of admission to the museum; $7.95 for adults, $6.95 for seniors, $4.95 for children 2-12 and children under 2 are free.

In addition to the various art and natural history galleries, several innovative multimedia exhibits are featured throughout the museum. Discovery Den, features fun and exciting educational exhibits for kids ages 6-12, and Cubs Corner offers fun games, puzzles and crafts for kids up to age 5. The Extreme Screen Theater is currently showing Dolphins and Beavers. Call 720.488.3300, or visit thewildlifeexperience.org, for movie show times. Along with Discovery Den and the Extreme Screen Theater, are galleries that host rotating exhibits throughout the year. Masters of the Night: The True Story of Bats, currently on display, brings the mystery surrounding bats out of the dark. The exhibit dispels popular misconceptions about bats and gives visitors an appreciation of the true wonders of the bat world. Special effects, multi-sensory interactive displays, a Gothic castle and environmentally lifelike settings such as caves and rain forests present bats in mythic and real-life settings. This interactive and hands-on exhibit provides a fun learning experience which sheds light on the myths about bats, describes their ecological importance and provides an understanding of the world's most misunderstood animal.

Throughout the museum, interactive kiosks allow visitors to learn about wildlife and conservation through video, animation and video games. Each of these exhibits and interactive elements communicates the museum’s mission to visitors through advanced technologies in compelling and dynamic forms.
