DENVER - May 1, 2007 - The Wildlife Experience hosts a family celebration on the first and third Saturdays of every month. The museum invites visitors of all ages to experience the wonders of the earth’s wild places and celebrate our world’s diverse wildlife through an array of fun-filled activities. The next Family Fun Day will be Saturday, May 5, 2007.

The Cheyenne Mountain Zoo will feature a live animal demonstration at the May 5 Family Fun Day. Family Fun Day activities are included in the price of admission to the museum; $7.95 for adults, $6.95 for seniors, $4.95 for children 2-12 and children under 2 are free.

Family Fun Day features a variety of educational activities for children of all ages that may include arts and crafts, storytelling, games and a scavenger hunt. The BOAtique and the Café offer 10% discounts on Family Fun Day for families to make the most of their adventure at The Wildlife Experience.

In addition to the various art and natural history galleries, several innovative multi-media exhibits are featured throughout the museum. Discovery Den, features fun and exciting educational exhibits for kids ages 6-12, and Cubs Corner offers fun games, puzzles and crafts for kids up to age 5. The Extreme Screen Theater is currently showing Wolves and Beavers. Call 720.488.3300, or visit thewildlifeexperience.org, for movie show times.

Along with Discovery Den and the Extreme Screen Theater, are galleries that host rotating exhibits throughout the year, including Spring! and Mindscapes: The Aerial Photography of Adriel Heisey. The Spring! exhibition features more than 70 original works of contemporary botanical art by members of the Rocky Mountain Society of Botanical Artists (RMSBA) through July 8, 2007. In addition to the botanical art exhibition, a collection of Depression-era glass is on display. The glassware featured in this exhibit has been loaned by members of two groups of collectors: The Rocky Mountain Depression Glass Society of Denver and the Pikes Peak Depression Glass Club of Colorado Springs. Depression-era glass is glassware made by American glass companies largely during the late 1920’s and 1930’s and includes the cheaply made glass sold in local five and dime stores, given as promotions at stores, theaters, gas stations, or in boxes of cereal, flour, soap, etc.

Mindscapes: The Aerial Photography of Adriel Heisey includes 27 dramatic color photographs, including personal observations by Heisey about each print. Visitors can see Mindscapes May 4 through June 10, 2007 at The Wildlife Experience. Heisey has captured mysterious and compelling images of the American Southwest landscape not by plane, but a hand-built Ultra-light aircraft that he controls with his knee so that his hands are free to photograph the landscape below.

Throughout the museum, interactive kiosks allow visitors to learn about wildlife and conservation through video, animation and video games. Each of these exhibits and interactive elements communicates the museum’s mission to visitors through advanced technologies in compelling and dynamic forms.
