The Wildlife Experience is an interactive and ever-changing institution that connects visitors with wildlife and habitats in a fun and educational environment!

About Us
Visitor imaginations and creativity soar in immersive exhibits such as Discovery Den and Cubs Corner as they enjoy making wildlife masterpieces, playing AVALANCHE, watching a film in Max Brown's Adventure Theater, and learning about the world's wildlife.

Visitors are also taken through a variety of art galleries where the world of fine art and education collide creating a memorable experience for all. Through special programming and breathtaking art, the museum allows guests to view art in a dynamic environment.

The experience also invites visitors to learn through the medium of film which includes viewing world renowned films in our Extreme Screen Theater complete with surround sound and a giant screen.

Through exhibits and programming as well as customer service and education, the Wildlife Experience brings people, entertainment and education together.

The Wildlife Experience Overview

The Wildlife Experience is a wildlife conservation museum featuring natural history, fine art, and film. Located 10 miles south of Denver, Colorado, the facility opened in 2002 and offers a wonderful experience for all who visit.

Mission

The Wildlife Experience instills respect for habitat and wildlife and inspires efforts to conserve for generations to come through educational, interactive and entertaining experiences.

Natural History, Fine Art & Film

The 111,000-square-foot museum houses an extensive collection of natural history exhibits, paintings and sculpture, photography and large-format films. Rotating exhibits are devoted to wildlife conservation efforts and present a wide range of wildlife subjects, themes and learning experiences.

Educational Resources

Learning abounds at The Wildlife Experience, in a variety of methods. Audiences can learn about a particular animal, habitat or region with the large-format films in the iWERKS® Extreme Screen™ Theater. Children and adults can take part in art and conservation classes to get a hands-on perspective of the natural world. Interactive media accompanies many of the exhibits and galleries where guests can test their knowledge and have fun learning about wildlife. Other education programs include school tours, Meet the Artist programs, and an online K-12 education curriculum.

Community Center

Outside of daily museum functions, the museum is the perfect space for nearly any type of special event. Conference rooms, a banquet hall, and an outdoor courtyard space are designed for both corporate and private events. Click here to learn more about events at The Wildlife Experience.

Named one of the Denver Business Journal's "Forty Under 40" business leaders in 2004, Giovanni (Gino) Greco joined The Wildlife Experience team in April of 2006 from CollegeInvest, where he was Chief Operating Officer of Colorado's $2.3 billion college savings program. An active participant in the community, he serves as an appointee of Governor Bill Ritter to the CollegeInvest board of directors, and is a member of the Rotary Club of Denver, Denver Metro Chamber of Commerce Public Affairs Council and 9Teachers Who Care selection committee. He has previously served on Mayor Hickenlooper's Denver Commission on Cultural Affairs, the Denver Kids Inc. board of directors, Children's Museum of Denver board of directors and Denver Active 20-30 Children's Foundation. He lives in Lakewood with his wife and 3 children.

Rick Smartt received his Ph.D. in Zoology and Botany from the University of New Mexico, Albuquerque. Smartt received his Masters and Bachelors in Zoology and Botany from the University of Texas at El Paso. Prior to his role as Executive Director of The Wildlife Experience, he was the Executive Director of the New Mexico Museum of Natural History and Science, where he also served as Chairman of the Science Division, Curator of Zoology and Curator of Collections. During his career as a scientist, he published two books and numerous publications on wildlife ecology. His current research includes age appropriate exhibits and the success of Kid Centers, exhibit usage metrics of "who uses what and why," and the biogeography of the mountain snail Oreohelix. Prior to his career in museum administration, Smartt was a professor at the University of Texas at El Paso. He lives in Littleton with his wife.

Amber DeBerry holds a bachelor's degree in journalism, with an emphasis in advertising, and a minor in business from the University of Colorado at Boulder. Prior to becoming Vice President of Marketing & Sales at The Wildlife Experience, she was a member of the marketing department of the Denver Zoological Foundation and was employed by Celestial Seasonings and the physics department of the National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST). She is a former board member of Tour Colorado and a former member of the Information Services Committee of the Colorado Tourism Office. She is also on the board for the American Association of Museums PR and Marketing Committee. At The Wildlife Experience Amber oversees the Marketing, Public Relations, Iwerks Extreme Screen Theater, Events, Membership, Group Sales, and Retail departments. She is responsible for all the publications that the museum produces as well as the website. She lives in Highlands Ranch with her husband and child.

FAQ

Q: What is the mission of The Wildlife Experience?
A: The Wildlife Experience instills respect for habitat and wildlife and inspires efforts to conserve for generations to come through educational, interactive and entertaining experiences.

Q: Where is the facility located?
A: The address is 10035 S. Peoria, Parker, CO. The Wildlife Experience is located just south of the Denver Tech Center, one mile east of I-25 at the intersection of Lincoln Avenue and South Peoria Street.

Q: What is the purpose of The Wildlife Experience?
A: To promote understanding and appreciation of wildlife - both animal and plant life in a natural environment - and to inspire efforts to conserve it.

Q: Is conservation necessary?
A: Given the alarming rate at which wildlife is diminishing due to human encroachment on natural habitats, conservation is critical.

Q: How can The Wildlife Experience accomplish these goals?
A: Through art, education and community involvement. The facility houses paintings, sculpture, photography and taxidermy by some of the foremost wildlife artists in the world. The exhibits on display encourage further understanding and involvement in wildlife and habitat preservation. We offer a wide range of educational programs - from on-site classes to an online K-12 curriculum. Overall, we seek to become a community center for conservation efforts.

Q: What is the size of the complex?
A: It is a 111,000-square-foot building located on a 13-acre site. The facility contains multiple art and natural history galleries, a 315-seat iWERKS Extreme Screen Theater, a Great Hall for hosting large events, conference rooms, a café, gift shop, and an outdoor entertaining space.

Q: What are the hours of the museum?
A: The Wildlife Experience is open 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Tuesday through Sunday. The facility is closed non-holiday Mondays, Thanksgiving and Christmas. Note: Holiday Mondays include: Martin Luther King Jr. Day; Presidents’ Day; Memorial Day; and Labor Day. iWERKS films show on the hour from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.
